D.R. Financial Group owners had clients with philanthropic goals so they brought a concept to a staff meeting and Regina Cannaday asked if she could lead the efforts in this endeavor. After due diligence, prayer and many meetings it was determined a Pastor’s guidance was needed in this faith-based organization. Pastor Larry Goodwin was brought in, Executive Board formed, plan written and charities researched. Funding solidified, bank account open and a website was created for Bounce Back Endowment Fund. At inception, our 501c3 covering, Grace Summit, and vetting charity, Brightpoint, were secured with contracts signed. Then the REAL WORK began as launched in March 2014… implementing into our community.
By February 2016, knowing the church community wanted this new niche of assistance, we incorporated as BounceBack of Indiana, Inc with our 501c3.
We partnered with a great marketing firm who rebranded, created a new website and supplied us with great tools to promote BounceBack of Indiana, Inc. We are beyond blessed by the assistance given through the efforts of many people and believe our foundation is solid as we continue to grow BounceBack.
One Year anniversary
By the end of March 2015, we had 14 Church Partners, who contributed about $2,800.00, affording 22 families with well over $40,000.00 of assistance between BounceBack and existing programs within Brightpoint.
As of December 2019, we have 44 Church Partners. Over 300 families received financial assistance to bounce back to self- sufficiency, producing greater commitments to serve in partner churches. Family relationships, faith in God and church attendance are increased as well as gratitude to donors offering hope when Partner members needed it most.
Brightpoint exhausts their programs, where applicable, before rolling over to our BounceBack program. Additional financial assistance (not included in our totals) to our referrals include charities like Community Harvest Food Bank, Mustard Seed, AEP, Huntertown UMC, Clothing banks, FSSA (Family Subsistence Supplemental Allowance), Habitat for Humanity and Indiana Legal Services. So, there is no way to capture the total assistance given to our referrals.
Meet Our Team
Regina has a passion for people and always looks for ways to encourage them. She holds an Associates in Bible and is a driven leader with 30+ years of advancement and accomplishments in Insurance, Management Consulting, Recruiting, Church and now public nonprofit. Regina started volunteering as a teenager at her church and now serves many Church Partners within BounceBack. Regina and her husband, David (who owns Higher Purpose AVL), have been married since 1987 and have given their lives to serving churches in Fort Wayne.
Inspired to keep others from experiencing the embarrassment and fear she felt when the unexpected occurred (simultaneous loss of employment for husband and herself), she immediately jumped at the opportunity to create a niche nonprofit from the ground floor to assist church members facing an unexpected financial crisis. The concept became a reality March 2014 where we began “beta testing” in the community under a church’s 501(c)3. Two years later, at the request of our Church Partners, in February 2016 we received our own exemption status.
Pastor Larry has a Bachelors in Theology, Pastoral Counseling and has been in ministry almost 50 years. He loves making a difference in people’s live, which is why he partnered with BounceBack at its inception. Larry has started/Pastored 3 churches, served in missions across the globe for 15 years before starting Grace Summit Church in 2011, where he still serves as Lead Pastor. He started part-time as BounceBack’s Pastoral Liaison in 2014 and has been instrumental in building rapport with local churches. In 2017 Larry became our Ministerial Director and serves in an expanded role within BounceBack’s programs. Larry and his wife, Shari, have been married 50 years, have 3 daughters, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
